The city’s annual Gay Pride Day celebration happened just hours after the horrible news of the massacre in Orlando. As we watched the parade, we realized the usual festive mood on Santa Monica Boulevard was tempered by the events in Florida.
Later, after the parade was over, an evening memorial service for the victims was held in West Hollywood. It was then that horrified citizens learned of a potential imitation attack there had been planned by another nutcase bomber. Fortunately, he was caught by police before he could carry out another mass murder.
Our prayers go out to families and friends of victims of terrorism in Orlando, as well as everywhere else extremist insanity strikes innocent people.
